How to solve any annoying task the way a billionaire would

One question to an AI agent, how would this get solved with unlimited money, turns a nagging chore into a paid service and it's done.

You've got a short list of small chores that have been sitting there for weeks. Not because they're hard, just because each one needs a government office, a long phone call, or an afternoon you don't have.

Here's the one question to ask an AI agent about any task like that, a prompt to copy, and what to check before you pay a stranger to make it disappear.

Start with the mindset

Instead of asking "how do I do this", ask the agent "how would this get solved if I didn't need to touch it myself and cost wasn't the issue". Most annoying admin tasks already have a paid service built to solve them, nobody looks because the habit is to just do it yourself.

Step 1: write down the task exactly as it annoys you

Not "deal with insurance", but "I need to physically show up at the DMV and sign a form, and that costs half a day off".

Step 2: ask the agent the billionaire question

Prompt to copyTell me how this task would get solved if I had unlimited money and didn't want to handle it myself: [describe the task]. Find a real service that exists today that does this for me, with a name and a rough price, not a general idea.

The wording matters because it forces the agent to find an actual, existing service, not suggest something vague like "hire a personal assistant".

Step 3: decide if the price is worth your time

Often the answer is cheaper than you'd guess. The only real question left is whether paying beats dealing with it yourself.

Wait, before you pay a stranger

The agent finds services, it doesn't vet them. Before you hand over payment or personal details, check that the business is real, has reviews, and isn't asking for more information than the task needs. This trick trades time for money, not judgment.

What happened to someone who did this

Chris Back wrote that he runs every mildly annoying task through what he calls his "billionaire bot," which tells him how he'd solve any problem if he didn't want to get personally involved and had unlimited resources. That's how he found out that showing up at the DMV to sign paperwork can be outsourced to a notary who comes to your office for $150.

Do this next

Pick one task from your list that's been sitting for more than a week, and run the prompt on it today.
